Levels

Stansted Airport has a single large passenger terminal divided into the Check-in and Domestic Arrivals hall, the International Arrivals and Departures and the Departures Lounge.

Even though, the building is a single level terminal distributed in the following way:

Check-in hall and Domestic Arrivals

Find in this section from left to right in the central part the check-in counters (A to J). Right after the check-in, find the security check. On the left up side to the check-in counters, find the Domestic Arrivals Hall, including a baggage carousel and an information counter. Access to the parking lots and train station by escalators and lifts.

Outside this level, right in front of the terminal, find the ground transportation options (bus, train station and taxi rank) which are accessible via a ramp.

Security check at Stansted Airport can take a lot of time. We strongly recommend you to arrive at the Airport with time and to do the security procedure easy: all liquids in a plastic bag and electronic devices out of your carry on luggage.

Departure Lounge

After clearing security check in the check-in hall, you can proceed to the Departure Lounge. In this section, find access to 1 to 99 boarding gates by either pier or via transit. In this section there is a plenty offer of retail stores and food and drink concessions, all centered in a big plaza prior to walking to gates.

Stansted has united all retails and restaurants just after security. Gate area is not updated to flight monitors until 30 or 40 minutes before embark so just wait for your information on the area.

When it is time to go to gates, there are 3 different areas:

There are several different areas for gates. A total of 93 gates are set at Stansted Airport.
Passengers can go walking everywhere excepting gates 1 to 39. For this gates, there is a special people mover available at the end of the Departures Lounge where all retailers and restaurants are located.  To the right passengers will find gates 40 to 59. And a level down passengers will find gates 90 to 93.

Time to gates from the Departures Lounge:
To gates 40 to 59: from 5 to 8 minutes walking.
To gates 1 to 39: around 5 minutes with the people mover.
To gates 81 to 88: 5 minutes walking.
